How long will it take to receive my first issue?

Your first issue should arrive no more than 6 weeks after you have received confirmation of your order with Unique Magazines; however, please be mindful of magazine publication dates. If you have not received your magazine after 6 weeks, please call our Customer Service team on (08453) 036 750 from within the UK, or +44 191 270 5132 from outside the UK. How do I request a refund?

How discreetly are magazines delivered?

Magazines distributed by Unique Magazines are delivered in clear plastic postal bags. Adult Magazines are delivered in unmarked envelopes. Magazines distributed by the publishers are also delivered in most cases in plastic postal bags.  If you are concerned with discretion, please contact the publisher directly.

What is Direct Debit?

If you pay for your subscription by Direct Debit you are automatically protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. A copy of this should be sent to you by the publisher of the magazine/s you have selected along with the details of the date of the first direct debit from your account and the frequency and amount of subsequent payments. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank and/or the publisher.  In some cases, publishers have a minimum subscription period during which you may not be able to cancel your Direct Debit. This will be stated on the magazine page.

Please note Unique Magazines do not set up the direct debit. This is direct with the publisher offering the direct debit service

Dispatch & Delivery

  1. Your subscription(s) will start with the next available issue. During Christmas some titles allow for dispatch for the first issue of gift subscriptions to be delayed until the New Year.
  2. An confirmation email will be sent to the email address you supplied in the ordering process confirming receipt of your order and relevant information.
  3. A second communication will be sent to the subscription purchaser when the subscription order has been processed by the publisher based on the magazine ordered.  This communication, which may be by email or letter, will confirm contact details for the publisher regarding your subscription(s), the starting issue of the subscription(s), the expected dispatch date of the first issue and billing or direct debit information.
  4. This website is operated by Unique Magazines ltd who pass your orders to the publisher of your selected magazine(s), the magazine that you order will always be fulfilled by the publisher of that magazine. Unless the magazine you have selected falls into the Unique Magazines range of titles. (please see terms and conditions)
  5. Unique Magazines customer service is your first port of call if you have any questions relating to your order. Please note, the magazine covers and pictures of gifts used on this site are for illustrative purposes only.

Where is my magazine?

  • It can take up to 12 weeks for delivery of your first magazine but this will be confirmed in the welcome letter you receive from the publisher.  The delivery date is determined by the date that you order, the print date of the next available issue and whether the title is published in the UK or overseas.
  • If you have not received your magazine within this time please contact us at enquiries@uniquemagazines.co.uk please provide your Unique Magazines order number.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Please contact Unique Magazines if you wish to cancel your subscription.  Please note that any magazines that stipulate a minimum subscription period will offer no refunds for subscriptions cancelled during this time.  Unique Magazines reserve the right to refuse a refund.

Can I exchange my magazine?

If you wish to exchange your magazine the please contact Unique Magazines.  Please note that any magazines that stipulate a minimum subscription period will offer no refunds or exchange for subscriptions cancelled during this time.    Some magazine(s) cannot be exchanged for any other magazines through this website where the publisher is distributing the publication ordered. However if the publication is distributed by Unique Magazines then the publication can be exchanged. Any extra cost to process the exchange will need to be covered by the customer. What do I do if my magazine is damaged?

If you have received your magazine and it is damaged please contact Unique magazines and we will contact the publisher of the publication with full endeavor to have the copy replaced where possible.

How secure are my payment details?

Secure Pages
We take the security of our website, and your payment details very seriously.  Firstly, our payment pages are secure.  You will see on these pages that the URL in your address bar changes to read https:// at the start.  This means all communication is encrypted between your computer and our website.  You will also see the secure padlock icon somewhere in the bottom bar of your web browser.  The location of this will differ depending on what browser you use.  So this means any card details you type in and send to us is encrypted, or scrambled in such a way that it cannot be eavesdropped upon but some unscrupulous fellow.

3D secure transactions
All orders placed through our website are 3D secure transactions.  This is a system which all websites taking payments must comply with since October 2009.  You may be familiar with this already.  Once you have entered your card details, i.e. number, expiry date etc you will then be asked for some additional security information.  At this stage the page you are seeing is actually created by your Bank or Card Issuer.  This is where your bank validates that the person using the card is actually you, by asking you some questions that only you and your bank know.  Once your bank has validated you are indeed you, they tell us we can proceed with the order.  Every bank asks you different questions.  Some will ask you for certain digits of a password or code you have setup with them.  Some may ask for your Date of Birth, or your mothers maiden name.  But the aim of this is to ensure the person using the card, is you.

Secure your data
Once you have given us your card details we use them to process your order, and then we discard them.  This means your card details are never recorded in a database somewhere, or stored in a file.  Once we have used them, they are forgotten.  So when you hear these cases in the news of tens of thousands of customers card details being stolen, that would never happen here as there is nothing to steal.

PCI Compliance

On top of this security and policy of not retaining your details, our website is also PCI compliant.  PCI stands for Payment Card Industry, and is a set of rules that the likes of Visa and Mastercard have put together to protect the card details of their customers.  Our website undergoes a test every 3 months to make sure we are compliant, and that our website cannot be hacked.

Can I pay for my order by Cheque?

Yes, you can pay for your order by Cheque.  Simply place an order as normal by adding your subscription(s) to your basket, and then go through the checkout process.

Once you have completed your billing and delivery information, you will be asked how you would like to pay.  Select the Cheque option and you will then be presented with details on where to send your cheque.  These details are:

You must write your order reference number on the back of the cheque.  You will get this number as you process your order.  It will start with the letters "UM" and will be found in the top right of the checkout screens, and also in the email confirmations you receive.

Can I pay using electronic transfer/BACS?

Yes, you can pay for your order directly from your bank account using the Bill payment function which many online banking system now provide.

Simply place an order as normal by adding your subscription(s) to your basket, and then go through the checkout process.

Once you have completed your billing and delivery information, you will be asked how you would like to pay.  Select the BACS option and you will then be presented with details on where to send your payment.  These details are:

Can I get an invoice, or send a Purchase Order?

Yes, we deal with many schools, colleges and libraries who prefer to send us a Purchase Order request, and then we will issue an invoice which can be paid using whatever method the institution prefers.

What is included in the price?

The subscription cost is dependant upon the country you wish the magazine to be delivered to. This price is displayed including delivery costs and taxes (where applicable). If you pay for your subscription using any non-sterling currency the price you pay will be dependant on the exchange rate of your credit card company and may fluctuate.

How do I find the magazine that I'm looking for?

Unique Magazines has a comprehensive list of unique and specialist magazines. The titles are grouped into categories of interest. Search through the categories to find the title you are looking for, or use the "Search" facility which is positioned at the bottom of the left hand menu. You can also use the "A-Z of Magazines" located in the top red bar, to search alphabetically for your title. If we do not list a title you are looking for, please let us know, and we will endevour to have the magazine listed on the site.

I can't find the magazine I am looking for, what do I do?

If you can't find the magazine your are looking for, it could mean that we do not currently offer that title. But please let us know by using our "Can't Find a Title" service and we will endeavour to add it to our list. We will let you know via e-mail when it becomes available. "Can't Find a Title" is found at the bottom of the left category menu.

Can I order a subscription for delivery outside the UK?

Many titles have overseas subscription rates. Select the country where the magazine is to be delivered and the price will appear for your chosen country then continue to purchase as usual.

As the majority of magazines are dispatched from the UK, higher delivery costs may apply for delivery to addresses outside the UK. The prices displayed include delivery costs and taxes (where applicable) please note not all magazines have overseas subscription rates.

Is there a gift subscription service?

If you are ordering your subscription as a gift, you can enter the recipients delivery details as part of the checkout process so they can recieve their favourite magazine direct to their door.

if you are not sure which magazine to choose, then you could opt to purchase either one of our great Gift Vouchers, with a selection of cards, or you can send a voucher by email for that last minute Gift solution.

How do I know that my order has been accepted?

When your order has been successfully received, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you supplied in the ordering process.

If you do not receive your confirmation email, please let us know and we will arrange for this to be resent.

What is the difference between a quarterly, biannual or annual subscription with regards to direct debit?

Quarterly - Quarterly (3 months) subscription*
For Direct Debit subscriptions payment is taken on a quarterly (3 months) basis.

Biannual - Half year (6 months) subscriptions*
For Direct Debit subscriptions payment is taken every 6 months.

Annual - Full year (12 month) subscriptions*
For Direct Debit subscriptions payment is taken every 12 months.

Unique magazines ltd reserves the right to restrict access or refuse orders to anyone who in its opinion is abusing offers on the site. Such behavior would include (but is not restricted to) repeated cancellations of direct debit offers and repeated cancellation of subscriptions before expiry of the full term. In such cases Unique Magazines ltd will write to you to request you desist from further use of the site. In the case of any orders placed subsequent to this request, the customer shall be liable for the full annual subscription price of the magazine regardless of any cancellation of the subscription. The customer shall also be liable for all costs to Unique Magazines ltd or the publisher in fulfilling the order and ensuring payment of the full subscription term.  Unique magazines ltd reserves the right to cancel any order before it has been passed to the publisher for processing.

Who do I contact about non delivery of my free gift?

If you do not receive your gift within 28 days of purchasing your order then please contact Unique Magazines who will investigate and report back with an update.  (Please note all free gift offers are through the publisher and gifts are subject to availability)  Where magazines offer a gift with purchase every effort will be made to supply the gift illustrated, but the publisher reserves the right to provide an alternative if they are unable to supply to original gift for whatever reason.  Gifts are limited to one per household.

What if I don't receive a confirmation/acknowledgement email?

How do I renew my subscription?

You may have received a letter or email from the publisher or Unique Magazines informing you that your subscription is coming to an end.  Renewing your subscriptions at Unique Magazines is extremely easy. Simply select the magazine you wish to renew, add it to your shopping basket then proceed to the checkout, you will be prompted to confirm that the order is a renewal at the delivery stage. Alternatively if you are having trouble or wish to do it over the telephone with one of our customer service representatives then please call us on 0845 303 6750.

What do you do with my personal information?

All of your personal information is secured by your username and password. Only you can access your personal information through your account. We use the personal information you provide (e.g. name, address, email address) to process your subscription order. Can I submit articles or pictures for consideration to Unique Magazines?

Unfortunately not as we are not a publishing house and only deal with subscriptions for the magazines on our website. All articles or pictures must be submitted to the publishers, we cannot do this on your behalf.
