Disney Cars magazine follows on from the animated adventure film produced by Pixar. It is aimed at Primary School children and follows the adventures of the colourful cars characters in the town of Radiator Springs. Radiator Springs is a Disney cartoon village created as a composite of multiple places on the historic Route 66 from Kansas to Arizona.

One of the main characters, Lightning McQueen becomes friends with residents of the town and sets up a racing headquarters there. Lightning McQueen is based on a Chevrolet Corvette and is a hotshot rookie race car.  He loves going faster than fast and is best friends with Mater. Mater is a rusty, but very trusty, tow-truck who loves to help out stranded cars.

Lightning McQueen, Mater, sheriff and Sarge are just a few of the colourful Disney Cars characters that act in an almost human-like way.  Each car has its own name, personality and identity, and even its very own responsibilities. Disney Cars magazine very cleverly transports readers into a world of fun and adventure with their favourite characters. Each issue takes youngsters on an an action packed journey through Radiator Springs.

Every page of the magazine is packed full of exciting puzzles, funny stories, colouring pages, awesome posters and cool games, giving youngsters the chance to learn lots of fantastic facts about their favourite cars. An assortment of puzzles and riddles makes sure that readers are kept interested for a long time.

In the current edition, one of the cut-out activities allows readers to make their own jigsaw puzzle featuring the cars.  Counting challenges asks readers to find out which character has been collecting the most tyres.  Sally Carrera, the beautiful blue Porsche, needs help with the counting tasks to get to the end of the track.

There are some lovely posters of the cars featured in the middles pages of the magazine, and an involving comic strip feature.  Attractive designing helps the characters come to life for readers, and the clear, crisp fonts all add to youngster’s enjoyment.
