The Dragon Bar, tucked away on Old Street, didn’t look like a place that would define an era, but it did. Its graffitied toilets, spontaneous block parties and free-to-use gallery space created the perfect underground laboratory for creativity. Banksy held his first-ever London show here; Faile and Bäst debuted their UK exhibitions; INVADER even placed one of his iconic mosaics outside the bar. What began as a hidden gathering spot quickly became the beating heart of a movement, until it mysteriously burned down, leaving behind stories that demanded to be told. Created and self-published by Josh Jones and James-Lee Duffy, co-founders of the cult art zine Pavement Licker, Dragon Bar Book is a vivid, definitive tribute to the birthplace of modern street art and the community that changed visual culture forever.
